Jeff G., John M. and I met in the cellar this afternoon for 3/4 beautiful wines.
1970 Monte Real Rioja
1989 Lynch Bages
2004 Produtorri Barbaresco
Special Yixin Bordaresco blend
The Monte Real was a gorgeous mature Rioja, at peak. Kept developing and changing over the course of the day.
The Lynch started out a bit soft but put on layers of leathery goodness. Beautiful wine, it's only fault might have been a slight lack of acidity.
The Barbaresco was also a beauty, with wonderful red fruit emerging with time in the decanter.
While discussing the Lynch we decided to try pouring a little Barbaresco into it to supply the missing acidity. Perfection!
