Terroir a myth?

My OCD takes the form of feeling compelled to finish books that I start, hence I'm known among my friends as the guy who actually finished Gravity's Rainbow, Ulysses, Gödel, Escher, Bach, ... books that just didn't grab me: Don Delillo's Underworld,

Mark Lipton

Holy shit, Prof.! Those are all on my list too!

Delillo particularly disappointed me since I absolutely love White Noise.

Hey, that was a pretty good review.

Whether conservatives like her or not I suppose depends on what you mean by a conservative. What blows my mind, just a bit, is to find conservative Catholics liking her, which requires a mental agility I can't really imagine.

Idiocy
Zounds.

My nephew is interested in writing for a living. I think there is a strong Darwinian selection for this sort of thing in the current ecosystem.

It's very hard to encourage a family member to take this sort of a path.

Writing listicles for gawker, or whoever, would be more honorable.

But you would like to see the guy get a real job.

National Review is an odd place to be lecturing about "unwarranted condescension"

Srsly.

Was anyone ever better at that than their founder? The master.

The Duc de Saint-Simon had nothing on that guy in the condescension department.

It's the same conservative Catholics who cherry pick Leviticus. "Not wearing clothes made from different fibers isn't relevant but homosexuality being an abomination is the word of God."

Rand would, of course, have been the first to castigate them given her fairly black and white views on religion. Or should I say red.
