The ultimate eBob Thread [eBob]

So now it's necessary to label any thread which might be vaguely considered eBob-ish? I just want to get the rules straight here -- I'd hate to have the eBob police confiscate my computer for evidence.

Oh, dear. This would seem to be a reaction to my earlier response to the bottle shape thread.

Who said anything about labelling? Rules?

I was disconcerted, is all, and meant to inflict no lasting harm.

Still, that thread did make me break out in hives. Doctor's bill on demand.

What's "EBOB"?

a) where people would rather talk about wine than drink it.
b) the source of evil in the modern world.
c) the george bush of the wine world.
d) an easy excuse for hyperbole.
e) all of the above

Lyle Fass was kicked off. If he's here, he can explain why. There have been other contretemps over the years.

I, alas, have only been kicked off Plotnicki.

If I recall correctly, Lyle declared he'd never post here ever again and we could all suck it. Or words to that effect.

Then he left. And hasn't returned to this day. He's always very nice when I see him at Chambers, though. Maybe he doesn't know I post here?

Aside from Lyle I know that Alice, Jamie and Serge were kicked off. Apologies for grouping you together that way, not meaning to imply you have anything else in common.

I was nearly kicked off for arguing with Andy Raffle.

You argue with people? Who knew?

Any hint of dissent at all with the Squire will facilitate exile there.

I was kicked off after 4 posts and a snippy email from the Administrator who was sure I was doing evil. I decided he didn't deserve multiple kowtows to be readmitted to his club. Fine. This incident left a bad taste in my mouth, which is a pity, since there is some fine information on that site from posters who want to be 'normal', and thus won't be found here.

I don't think that's true. I've argued with Squires numbers of times. It can be an exercise in futility, but it doesn't result in banning.

I believe Squires claimed Lyle was banned. Maybe this is one of those cases where it is hard to tell whether quitting preceded or followed firing.

I banned myself from signing up there so I am hardly an authority. I am merely trying to embellish the urban legend. Off to check to see which emailer just hit my inbox!

The board sponsor once compared me unfavorably to the Prime Minister of Iran, and the administrator has whacked me a few times, but I can still post there. A number of (well-respected) players here also post there regularly. It's not as much fun, and there is a dreary commercial element, but there is a fair amount of learning and info, mixed in with some rants, trolling, and posturing. Thankfully, this board is completely free of trolls.

The board administrator wrote up his account of the dispute with Lyle, and it's posted somewhere in the board apparatus. I can find it if anyone really cares.

Maybe it could be renamed Wine Order, or, better yet, Wein Ordnung! How about Wein Kampf?

That's my recollection as well. I also believe that Eden M. was banned or kicked off or purged, maybe in the pre-Ebob days?

Their loss, obviously.
