TN: Lusu Cellars Petite Verdot

This bottle was a gift and it blew my mind. 2011 Lusu Cellars, Petite Verdot, Lodi - Mokelume River: tobacco and fruit, just enough California warmth and a bright, lingering finish that brings to mind powdered shale. Putting on reading glasses, and then getting a magnifying glass, I am able to learn from the back label that the grapes are organic and dry farmed, the fermentation was wild and the wine spent a year in neutral French oak. A recipe for success if there ever was one.

Last December, Lusu poured at the ESJ Fete du Vin in Berkeley. FL Jim was there and highly recommended I try the Zin, '12 Single Leaf Vnyd, Eldorado County. It was much as you describe the Petite Verdot. It was very, very good.

Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then some body bends
Unexpectedly

Just a little change
Small to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the beast

Direct your sarcasm at me you know I'm easily pleased and not too bright.
