This bottle was a gift and it blew my mind. 2011 Lusu Cellars, Petite Verdot, Lodi - Mokelume River: tobacco and fruit, just enough California warmth and a bright, lingering finish that brings to mind powdered shale. Putting on reading glasses, and then getting a magnifying glass, I am able to learn from the back label that the grapes are organic and dry farmed, the fermentation was wild and the wine spent a year in neutral French oak. A recipe for success if there ever was one.
