Rebecca and Mike, Londoners, decided to take their honeymoon in the US. They've seen the big sights and wanted to take in some countryside instead. So they landed at Kennedy, rented a car, and drove up the Hudson. They made it to Albany and then stayed at wineries and cideries and B&Bs on their way back south. They ended with a few days in NYC and we hosted them one evening.
Wines served:
Tarlant NV Champagne "Vigne d'Antan" - mostly 2000 wine, disgorged 2007; beautifully-aged chardonnay, rich without being glyceral, fizz still plentiful, a treat; I'd buy more if I could
Dujac 1996 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er "Aux Combottes" - meaty, funky, dirty, chewy, just what real Gevrey should be; I bend one prong back slightly for seeming just a tad old, but I think the groom liked it a lot
Brun NV "FRV100" - ...because we always do.
