Informed the dinner was to be rack of lamb, scallions and new/purple potatoes, collard greens, then Irish goat cheese and pear...what to serve. And then it came to me...
Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Reservee '99 -- Dark almost inky red, pungent very full aromatics, elixir/lushness supreme, full and robust and complex but with elements of finesse, kept on keeping on, drink now or virtually whenever. Really fine, almost beyond the scale of the right adjectives given the dinner it was paired with.
