I'm off poulsard since Chris convinced me it doesn't age. From now on I'll only cellar Donnhoff.

Me, I've stopped cellaring Donnhoff because it's important to take a stand against things you don't think is fair, and with this producer, I think it's unfair that the price has risen so much since the newer generation added the extra 'n' and extra 'f' to their surname name on the label back in the 1960s (I'm just thankful that they didn't make it "Von Dönnhoff" because the price would have gone stratospheric, what with the connotations of Germanic royalty. There may also have been a slight upcharge for the umlaut too, but I've been unable to verify this on any of the alternative wine facts fora I participate in.

-Eden (FWIW, I agree with Chris on Poulsard's galling inability to evolve in the cellar, which is why I now age only Ploussard from the region)

NWR, but von-related clip

(...familiar if you like the Bravo series "Odd Mom Out"...)

In Pupillin, the grape is typically spelled Ploussard and in Arbois and elsewhere it is more commonly spelled Poulsard. So beyond the joke you are making (and I can appreciate the humor), are you also making a more serious point that Ploussard from Pupillin is a better candidate for the cellar than Poulsard from elsewhere in the Jura? I could see an argument for that, although had not heard it articulated before other than in the context of specific producers producing ageworthy examples of the grape.

I've often found that the ageability of poulsard can be improved with as little as 25% ploussard added to the blend.

No doubt it rivals the legendary CRB Côt-Malbec bottling.

Don't spread it around as I wouldn't want to kill the auction pricing on this wine but I have it on good authority that they added some auxerrois to the blend as well.
