Tonight's dinner is NY strip steaks seared in a cast iron pan, with baked potatoes and a brussels sprouts - mushrooms - red pepper saute. I opened Antano 2004 Montefalco Sagrantino but it was corked. Aaugh. Nice wine under the taint, too.
So, instead, I sub in the Borgogno 1971 Dolcetto d'Alba: sour for the first few minutes but then the wine rallies... muted florals, darkest red (or maybe blue) fruits, earth and a drop of asphalt, tannins are mild but still trying desperately to assert themselves; intellectual wine.
What old bottle did you open recently?
