I have a bunch of the Druet magnums KL brought in, and I decided to open one out of burning curiosity.
The first bunch of 750s they had were terrific, and the 2nd batch as bad as the first was good. They seemed badly heat damaged - many of the corks have been sticky. I was worried about the mags as we bought those with the 2nd batch.
96 Bourgueil Grand Mont - really, really delicious. Quite reticent on nose. Reminds me actually of Clos Rougeard's base cuvee. A touch of pond water, autumn leaves, fine smoke, tomato leaf, grippy acidity, a hint of roast beef.
This is the kind of wine that keeps me in the game.
