How was the Baby Jesus, Pete? I wouldn't kick that game hen dish out of bed for eating crackers.

Mark Lipton

The Bouchard Beaune Greves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus '05 was terrific. It had been double decanted about 3 hours before serving and was so sleek and delicious. It is fine now and will make great old bones. One of my favorite monopoles every year.

Likewise the Cornish Game Hen...

Carrot ginger panna cotta sounds very interesting and tasty. Crab and parsnip soup - I still recall a terrific version at Jean Georges many years ago. Went brilliantly with a Spatlese from the Pfalz.

Christian, you are observant. In a photo that doesn't do justice, the crab and parsnip soup...

This whole dinner clearly demonstrated the great talent of this chef to create and present a lineup of no-nonsense courses that were, as one member said, "off the charts good". It is rare for a meal to so certainly signal how a chef stands apart from the ordinary with his excellent product.

All of the appetizers were very tasty, as was, of course, the Pierre Peters. I particularly liked the Salmon Croquet with Salmon Roe and Dill Creme Fresh.

What? Six posts and no one is yet giving Pete shit about the food, the menu, the wines? Not like this crowd.

Maureen etal, here's a PSA for you.

The Domaine Pattes Loup Chablis Vent d'Ange '17 is by a small, largely undiscovered producer. If you can somehow find some of this bottling, grab it and forever be pleased. Really delicious and only ~$36. My order is being processed for delivery.

Pattes Loup Chablis is excellent but tough to come by

Maureen, the menu is unexceptional: lots of comfort food, regular combinations of flavor and texture. The wines are also pretty regular fare.

I suppose we could tease him that this was pretty boring.

Are "Fall Spices" just a fancy way of saying pumpkin spice?

come to Paris I have a pile of current and back vintage of villages and 1er cru Pico

There's Grand Cru in Pico? Since when?

Who said anything about grand cru?

Ok, I read that as 'grand cru', but seriously, there's premier cru vineyards on Pico? I thought most wines there were treated cooperatively. What would be the basis of 1er? Height up the mountain?

it would be because the fruit came from premier cru vineyards.

Wot a bloody mess, we're talkin' 'bout Thomas Pico in Chablis, not Pico isle in the Azores.

Ooooo....thought it was Pico, which has it's very own appellation.
Sorry for the confusion!
