Isolation begins with riesling

Speaking of isolation, yesterday I lost 95% of my sense of smell, suggesting that the "mild flu-like cold" I've been experiencing these last two weeks under isolation is corona. I know that much more serious losses are going on but I was wondering if anyone else here lost their sense of smell too.

I hope you have a speedy recovery whether corona or just a cold / flu. I often lose my sense of smell entirely for a couple days when I have a cold (but not for the entire period of the cold). I have also heard first hand that this happens to people with corona.

Thank you. Yes, I often lose it for never more than a day or two from a regular cold, but if this is corona, apparently the asnomia lasts a week or two. To be continued.

Good luck, O.

Yes, a friend who has the thing definitely has.

Feel better soon, and keep us posted.

On the other hand, this might be your chance to enjoy some great oaky wines.

Thanks again, y'all. Other than nasally I am in fine form and yes, I do take these opportunities to reduce stocks of the less interesting stuff.

Yes, my wife has lost her sense of smell for more than a week now, without any congestion/sinusitis. This follows a few days of mild symptoms - low fever, mild aches, shallow cough. We're on day 12 of family self-quarantine.

In dark times, our savior appears with the right comedic touch at the right time.

I always knew there had to be a reason for everything.

Jonathan, I just sniff the wine with extra diligence and am able to pick up the key components of the aroma. Also, the aroma components are quite evident to my sniffer when I am swirling the wine in my mouth. Altogether, not really a problem for me.

This is probably why I'm not very susceptible to TCA.

Every time Pete posts one of these, I do a double take that he must be Eden Mylunsch or Kay Bixler trolling us (or Dressner reincarnated, may he RIP):

Pete, you are a great straight man. Keep on keeping on. Stay safe. Stay healthy.

You Guys crack me up! Thanks for the redemption!
I need humor since my family is in NYC while I'm in a hotspot in CA. Be as well as we can be. Life is more precious than wine.

Ooh, your '17 Bone-Jolly red did that tonight!

Nice to hear! This is the strangest time, and I'm hoping everyone is doing okay. And I miss everyone!

Sandi and I miss you, too. Hope you and Cornelia are doing well! We still have a couple of bottles of '17 Bone-Jolly Rosé to help us through. It's drinking so nicely.
