Retailer: Leon & Son

I would just ask them please not to do that.

Mr. Ross, you did a noble deed. I’d be unworthy of the high trust that’s been placed in me if I didn’t do everything within my power to keep our beloved forum at peace with all wine stores.

I’d be only too happy to order some wine, and offer them on behalf of this bored the right hand of good fellowship. And I feel sure they will accept this gesture in the spirit in which it is offered.

But suppose they don’t. A fine thing that’ll be. I hold out my hand and they refuse to accept it. That’ll add a lot to my prestige, won’t it? Me, a WIWP, snubbed by a wine store. Who do they think they are, that they can come here, and make a sap out of me in front of this bored?

Think of it I hold out my hand and those hyenas refuse to accept it. Why, the cheap four flushing swine, they’ll never get away with it I tell you, they’ll never get away with it!

We could have a new Bored game: What wine is Nathan eying at the retailer?

Looking at this one, perhaps Simonne Rouge with some age? Don't see you doing Ooka. Aged Chamonard? The Preadeaux X? That's three guesses, so I should stop.

Ha! In today's market I'm too nervous to tell.

I can access Simone and have some Pradeaux X (which is awesome). I rely on Eric for drinking aged Chamonard...

I looked earlier and was too lazy, so just guessed La Charpenterie.

You are correct sir! Glad I'm such an open book. I'm more obsessed with the white than the red and don't expect to be able to buy the wines for too much longer. Taking advantage while I can.

For the record, the other wine that I actively hunt is Faurie Hermitage in all variations.

Ordered today and we have a cold snap this week, which is unusual so hopefully, I'll get it by Friday. I'll report back on the experience.

That was my question regarding Gordon's since I stop by there occasionally.

Along those lines: One of the stores I buy from in Germany happens to be the sole importer of Clos Rougeard, but the last vintage available to regular buyers was 2010. After that they only sold to restaurants.
Today they offered 6 wooden cases of 2014s to their newsletter customers with 3 S-C and one each of Brézé, Les Poyeux, and Le Bourg. 1200 Euros per case. The price for such a 6-pack for the 2010s (without the wooden box) was under 400 Euros.

Gordon's was also Collier Charpenterie Blanc 2015. They had it listed for $75 but it just shot up to $120. If you're local and a regular, maybe you get the old price. I honestly think it is at least as good as Rougeard Brézé and better to my palate.

Bold move. Let us know. I've noticed the 'cold snap' but still a lot of 70s, which makes me nervous because trucks/vehicles still get quite hot at those temps.

On the website they have 2014 for 120 and 2015 still for 75 (marked down from 99).
I shall try some. Thank you for the recommendation. Do you think the reds are equally good?

Regarding Faurie, there are some sources in Germany selling the different Hermitage cuvées for around 60 to 70 Euros, but obviously they can only ship within Europe. I had some shipped to my sister earlier this year, now waiting for when we can visit again.

Yeah, what I'm seeing on my iphone is low 70s down to the high 60s on Friday (weather underground concurs). The temperature tends to be the biggest problem in the first and last mile. Looks like 60s up in NY all the way down to VA.

Generally more risk than I would normally take, but this is the first time I've ordered from them, so I don't want the wine sitting around. If it was Chambers, I wouldn't worry.

BTW, they called me because one of the bottles I ordered wasn't there when they checked and subbed in something else for the same price (that was a bit more expensive, I told them I'd happily pay the difference, they demurred). Good experience thus far. I don't plan on becoming a big internet shopper again but it'll be nice to have another source for the stuff that'll never make it to this market (I've been trying for Collier with no luck).

I'm not sure if the reds are *equally* good. They're excellent. The whites just scratch something in my lizard brain.

At 60-70 euros, I'd buy as much as I could. I'm willing to pay up to $150 these days. Again, there is something about these wines that really works for me.
