Just been in more lurker mode. Every time I get more involved on here, I piss away too much time reading about wines (and beers) I can't buy where I live. Costs me mega bucks in airfare, it does.
I've been away for a spot. Back now. 10 days in Burgundy with a winemaker getting doors (and cellars) opened was a revelation. They have apparently run out of places to plant Pinot Noir - all the bigger negotiants are flogging Cru Beaujolais now. Gamay may become cool!
It was stinking hot in the Cote D'Or for the first 2 weeks of July. I spent as much time as possible underground. Did not feel like a cool climate region....
I love real lambic. Even judged the AHA final round competition years ago in that style. I have some gong in a keg downstairs. Can't buy it where I live. None. Sometimes there is kool-aid stuff (Mort Subite) but that's it.
I had a wonderful meal and access to a very well chosen selection of Brunellos at Bocon di Vino, about a month ago. There are some wines on the list there not easily found elsewhere, made by co-owner Roberto Cipresso from small lots around Montalcino, including his own.
That is true. Especially with tube amps.
