It really was beautiful today. Although still a work day, every meeting seemed to take us out of doors: lunch from the food trucks on Virginia Ave., iced coffee sitting on a retaining wall, a discussion on a park bench. Later: Mexican food with the kids and margaritas for the big people at H...

Amen to this. I drank my last two bottles of the 2010 during the recent heat waves and they were both fantastic. I had my last 2009 a few months ago--also very good.

Also, I had an Anthill Farms Syrah earlier this week that was the absolute opposite of all that I normally expect from that variety grown in that place.

I'm disappointed I missed this. Stupid strep.

Putnam. I don't know you, but I'm so glad you're back. And Gueyrosse. 2002. I don't know who brings it to Detroit, but a really great guy named Ed brings it to us here in DC and it is delicious.

05 Pavillon de Chavannes Ambassades did not work out for me this weekend. Two years ago with 24 hours of air, it was pretty brilliant. This time around, we got a very promising hour or so and then it slipped away on us. It opened up again a bit the next day, but never really got its schwerve...
