NY Madiran-cassoulet jeebus, January 19

Just to confirm, I'll be there, as will my wife, and we'll have either young madiran or something else for cassoulet. We'll try not to be too hipster in our choices.

Sort of? Patrick Ducournau's Domaine Mourou Madiran is made with a significant percentage of Fer Servadou and follows biodynamic practices -- but then again, he invented microoxygenation and he surely uses new oak elevage. (I've never tried his wines as they do not appear to be imported to the U.S.)

I'm in, too, and fully intend to try and find some sort of non-spoofed hipster Madiran to bring along.

Or, failing that, some nice Mas de Daumas Gassac or something.

Perhaps I should just go the quantity route and bring along this stinky biodynamic Corbieres 5L bag-inna-box that Jenny and Francois bring in. It has a cute pair of donkeys on the label. We've sold 'em OK, but probably could sell more if I quit trying to convince customers to "Taste the Donkey!"

looks like a great evening lined up.....if only kyoto were just a little closer. will raise a glass of the montus blanc in your direction!

Great! Things are shaping up well. We're certainly having cassoulet-appropiate weather right now.

I just want to reiterate: it's not necessary to bring Madiran, whether it is young, old, hipster, spoofed, etc., though if you can, swell. At the least, just bring anything that will go well with cassoulet.

Holy shit.

Am I glad I decided against coming to NYC this weekend.

Enjoy your fucking cassoulet.

Note: This post takes advantage of Jeff Grossman's wicked code.

Note: The preview function was used in this message. Like it makes a fucking difference, I'm not a retard like Chris or Thor. i had it right the first time.

The article says of the pilot, Chesley B. Sullenberger that "...he is a visiting scholar at the University of California at Berkeleys Center for Catastrophic Risk Management."

Given his stellar performance today, I think enrollment just went up!

This is the Deux Anes? I didn't even know they made a box version. Very pleasantly stinky, though.

I will happily buy "Sully" a glass or three of his favorite tipple, should he decide to jeeb with us. Chuck Yaeger ain't in it; gliding an engineless Airbus down onto a perfect ditch on the freezing Hudson, this guy is clearly a steely-eyed missile man.

Here's who is coming and who is on the waiting list:

Me
Cliff
Chris
Scott
Jay
Jeff + 1?
twlim + 1
Seth

Maybe?
Blackwood
EdenB/Scott

So, either 9 or 10 of us are coming for sure, depending on Jeff's +1. Are the waitlisted people interested in attending? And of course we'll hold a spot for Sully.

Much as Scott and I *love* cassoulet (and how perfect is it for this weather!), we are not going to be able to make it this time. New puppy in the house, and it's too soon to leave her for long. Enjoy, y'all.
