NY Madiran-cassoulet jeebus, January 19

simple carafes should be fine. as the wine area was expanded i have a good old magnum that will need to be decanted... lots of good, old-school VA...

Oh, my god. I just realized this means I'm going to have to get out of my bathrobe tomorrow. And, like, bathe and shave and all those things I once did, back in the day.

Ugh. So so difficult.

Ok, I spoke with La Sirne. They say they have one decanter, and a few water carafes, but probably not enough for all the bottles we may bring. Doesn't sound like too much of a problem to me, though. I'll try to double-decant my bottles beforehand.

Oh, and Cassoulet for everyone is not a problem!

Arrived in NYC. Have young madiran, and also a random white from Minervois which I think will stand up and be counted when the wave of duck fat rolls towards us.

Am now rubbing myself down with duck fat as protection against the elements.

It would help if you wore something besides a grass skirt.

Maybe then you could put duck fat inside you as protection against the elements instead.

Not so much a grass skirt as grass culottes, or maybe a grass skort, sometimes the nicer distinctions of grass tailoring are lost on me.

But you're right, it's too cold for that. I'll change.

Ohhh, the waves of duck fat! Make it stop!

I'm here, liveblogging! We've got so much Madiran! And a clearly counterfeit '78 Cahors, a Rodenstock bottle!

1990 Aydie FTW!

And duck fat!
