2009 Clos de la Roilette Fleurie

Pinot Noir-based Burgundy presently occupies the prestige space, that's just the way it is.

I need to try some Descombes; I bought a smidgen of 05 Morgon vv, but daren't open it yet.

$30 Beaujolais that tastes like grand cru Burgundy is pretty handy to have around, too.
I prefer $30 Beaujolais that tastes like grand cru Beaujolais.

I'm still bummed that it takes $30 to get Grand Cru Beaujolais. Then again, that strikes me as about fair for premier cru Burgundy. Damn, getting old sucks for a whole variety of reasons.

As SB will tell you, presently is the way it will be.

Separately, a buncha places have had better marketing for a long time than a buncha other places. Ain't no "Beaujolaishound" out there, and there hasn't been the money coming into the AOC to upgrade everyone's quality. Maybe a buncha Burgundy is better.

But we all know that a "cuvee prestige" ain't always so fab.

Claude or someone should write that good book on Beaujolais.
No, he shouldn't. Nor should you. Nor should anyone.

Of course, were I one of the producers I'd probably feel differently.

I was wondering whether Chambers Street 9/22 shipment of Coudert is the last shipment of the 2009s they are receiving. Trying to reconfigure my finances so I can buy a case before the Tardive is permanently sold out. If there is another shipment coming in after 9/22, it would ease my mind so I can let it sell out and wait for a future shipment of Coudert closer to the end of the year.

You and Christine O'Donnell?

Had to look her up because I am not up-to-speed on tea party politics. If she's a Republican, dishonesty is part of her makeup. I thought all Republicans (except Scott) were...

Steven, for me, Beaujolais that tastes like Burgundy is just p&*^% envy (the puritanical streak makes me demure). Burgundy that tastes like Beaujolais, OTOH, is condescension. Vive la tipicit.

Winemakers who want their Gamays to pinote should be shote.

Is being shote a bad thing? What does it entail?

Apologies, I meant shotte.

Steven, I understand that your unanswerable questions were meant rhetorically, but I see Beaujolais that tastes like Burgundy as just a case of p&*^% envy while Burgundy that tastes like Beaujolais as a strange condescension. I guess the puritanical streak likes certain things in their cubbyholes (unless used by the AOC to stifle experimentation, which the non-puritanical streak appreciates).

It's Keith's fault! Personally, I'm more concerned about getting some of the regular stuff.

Not sure what kind of a thread political name-calling will lead to; apropos the tea party, however, it's worth noting that Jon Stewart has been recorded as an American political force by le Monde: http://clesnes.blog.lemonde.fr/2010/09/18/tea-party-la-gauche-contre-attaque/.

A Democrat is addled and ineffective.

A rich Republican is a cynic and a non-rich one is an idiot.
