There was a bunch of Coudert, now there are a few mags left of the CT
 
New tasting note: The wine is so delicious that it can disappear from retail in less time than takes 10 pedants to argue over English usage.

Considering the time scale of those arguments on this bored, that's not an impressive comparison.
 
Is it actually that good? I stocked up early, trusting BJ and Joe, and have been second-guessing myself ever since. You know how flighty those guys can be.

I'm hoping it might pop up in the DC area. I notice it takes retailers around here a couple more months to release beaujolais than in New York. Maybe Bassins will have the '09 Coudert.

I also have 2008 Coudert, so life isn't that bad.
 
Bassins has been slow to embrace Beaujolais: one of the staff started stocking them a while ago, but he moved on and the other sellers didn't seem to take the remaining inventory very seriously. Maybe the 09 hype will bring them around. Arrowine seems like a place that might carry it. Charlottesville retailers had some of the 05 and 06 regular bottlings, but I don't know about the CT.
 
Macarthurs has carried Coudert before. I think I got the 06 there. They have a couple of the Brun 09s. I don't know if they'll carry Coudert in 09 though.
 
I noticed that about Bassins/Macarthurs. It is always something of a crapshoot over there w/r/t Beaujolais.

They had a pretty extensive selection about 6 months ago, but it looks like its dwindling now. I find that surprising considering Beaujolais seems to consistently sell there.

Well, here is hoping for vintage/Keith hype.
 
Interesting line in Crush's Vissoux offer today - "Interest in 09 Beaujolais has snowballed to proportions that we couldn't even imagine when we sent out our first offer in early July. These wines are simply getting snapped up with alarming speed." I've heard the same from others. Should motivate more shops to wade into the category, and obviously good news for the producers too.
 
The Crush write-up also includes an interesting description of Vissoux's Fleurie Garant vineyard, which has always been a bit of a mystery to me. It says Garant, like Coudert's Fleurie vineyards, was formerly part of Moulin-a-vent, though higher in elevation and with a southwest-facing aspect (compared to Coudert's southeast-facing vineyard).

Jonathan, as I recall the Bassin's 06 Roilettes, they were discounted to about $18 after the team Beajolais champion left, and never restocked. There was a sense of restrained mirth about my interest in Beaujolais at the time, if memory serves.

Apparently Keith's assessment of the CT was conservative - Gilman's given it a 96. Oh brother.
 
wow, you have sure received your latest issue from Gilman late. He's been having email problems, I guess ?

I am not amused by these difficulties in getting beaujolais at the moment.
 
I just happened to notice it on Cellar Tracker. I don't think I've ever owned a 96-point wine before. I feel strangely ... different ... I wonder what the fucked-up factor on this wine is.

By the way, have you tried any of the 09 Vissoux yet? I remember your caution about possible style change with the vintage.
 
Winesearcher shows Coudert both the normal and the tardive at numbers of places in the NY area. The other Beaujolais that got pointified are all around as well. As Jimmy Cliff said, "You can get it if you really want."
 
I checked those links, but they are already sold out for the most part. Tardive is completely gone and not much of the normal is left.
