NYC jeeb 7/7/11

I will probably bring this crazy Binner Pinot Gris that someone left in my fridge, and something else.

Hello all - I just saw/remembered about this. I won't be able to make it but I hope that someday soon I will be able to enjoy wine with such disorderly company.

In honor of our Brooklyn locale I will bring at least one Hipster wine.

I think we seven people so if anyone else wants to join we have room.

Beware of subway problemsLooks like no service on the 2, 3, 4, 5 between Manhattan and Bkln. See you on the Ferry!

So that's what all those sirens in Lower Manhattan were all about. Take the A, C, R or F trains to J Street and then grab the B61. That's #B61sucks hashtag for all you Twitterites.

That was the point in the evening when I did my magic trick and turned into a string of lights.

That isn't you on the left, winegrrrl?

How was it? I love that place.

The Binner was indeed weird. The '02 coudert tardive excellent. (thanks Joe) And the '64 Huet petillant superb (thanks Sharon). The other 18 or so wines were pretty good too. Especially the moric blaufrankisch -- thank you Michael. And the Cornelissen!! For that and putting it together, thank you Robert. Lesli and Brad, great to meet you. You've now seen as much or more than many of us who were born here.

Great night. Many memorable wines. The 64 Huet was such a treat to try (Thanks Sharon). Despite the heat I really enjoyed many of the reds - Cornelissen Munjebel 5, Ganevat and Overnoy were particularly good.

I was also in the minority in really liking the 01 Valette Clos Reyssie

It was my first time getting together with this group and I very much enjoyed it. So many of the wines were great and, difficult as it is to single one out as perhaps my favorite, I think the Overnoy truly set itself apart in my mind - thanks Robert. The '64 Huet was also a brilliant way to start, so thanks for that, Sharon. Kirk, your explanations and guidance over the course of the dinner really heightened my experience. Thank you. Great meeting everyone and Brad and Leslie, hopefully you enjoyed your trip. I look forward to similar gatherings in the future.

PS - Joe, although not directly related to the dinner, the tip about CRB at Chambers St. helped me out bigtime - thanks.
