Monday:
'98 Bosquet des Papes "Chantemerle" CdPape - In a resolved, easy to drink stage. No sense of heat from the alcohol from when I last tasted '98s (probably a couple of years ago). Drink and hold, but I'm going to drink sooner than later.
Last night with Kane, Jon Cook (yes, he lives!), Kira, Rob Adler and Sandy Crozier:
'89 Cote-Rotie, Jasmin - Classic, old school Syrah. Nice and porky. Based on this bottle, drink or hold
'94 Beaucastel - Some Beaucastel funk, but well under control. It blossomed over the course of a couple of hours. More fruit, less funk. Drink or Hold.
'98 Dom. de la Janasse "Chaupin" CdPape - See description above for Bosquet. Seems like '98s are finally coming into their own. The 15 year rule?
'01 Nuits-St-Georges "Aux Murgers", Cathiard - Starting to display some nice secondary notes, but if you got 'em, drink something else in the meantime.
'55 Rioja Vieja Riserva, Bilbainas ((I believe I have that right on which bottling) - Superb, still fresh. Really came into its own after a couple of hours.
