What a wonderful restaurant/wine bar!
The wine list is a dream, the food was delicious, the service was friendly, welcoming and professional, the room is modern, lovely and relaxing and the noise level is comfortable!
The amuse bouche was a nice vibrant wake up, the steamed egg and cauliflower was delicious and comforting and the monkfish was fantastic. The panna cotta was good with a nice level of sweetness (i.e., not too much) but was probably the least interesting item. Or maybe I was just full by then, I only ordered dessert because everything else had been so good.
2012 Clos des Briords by the glass was served ice cold but after warming in my hands for about 10-15 minutes was its usual amazing self without me having to sacrifice one of the 2 bottles I hid away somewhere in Chelsea. Seriously, I was reorganizing my cellar this afternoon and realized I have no idea where they are.
2012 L'Arpent Rouge was, as anyone would expect, amazing.
Alice was eating at the bar when I arrived and David arrived later on. I mentioned the over-chilled Muscadet to him so hopefully that one minor problem will be resolved.
The restaurant was about half full when I arrived around 6:30 and was practically full by the time I left. Not bad for a Monday night!
By the way, as great as the btg list is the bottle list is equally impressive. Multiple vintages of CRB Gamay for one thing.
This more than made up for what had been a very frustrating day and I look forward to revisiting. I'd say go before the buzz hits but given how busy they were I may be too late.
