Happy New Year!

(why is it OK to say St. Joe and not Moose?).
One is merely a shortening of the proper name while the other is a nickname.

It's like the difference between calling a physician "Doc" or "Sawbones". Only a very few people are permitted to use the latter.

I can find the wines of Gonon, Faury, Faurie, Chave, yourself, and now even Graillot.

You must possess the Staff of Ra. From the above, I can only find the Chave St. Joe (why is it OK to say St. Joe and not Moose?).

Best,
Joe

It's not. A letter bomb has been dispatched to the Purdue Department of Chemistry.

You should see the Taliban-esque beard I'm sporting these days.

First of all, I've been misquoted. The difference between what I did write (St. J) and the overly familiar "St Joe" is substantial in my estimation. Secondly, I feel it my duty to alert the underpaid staffers of the mail room that they're in for a Unabomber Surprise.

I can understand the anger, though, given the whippin' the Tarheels recently suffered at the hands of a bunch of wimps from Boston.

VLM: Speaking of NC, is this 3 Cups place in Chapel Hill any good? I saw the wine list online. It looked well choosen for the most part.

To avoid a Google search....what is The Staff of Ra?

By the way, the distinction is that Joe is the diminutive of Joseph.

Moose is not the diminutive of Musigny.

You won't find that in a comic book!

Plus, I didn't even have to Google or search Wikipedia for that information.

OK, a recall has been placed. I'm sending HIV-1 Clade G instead.

Ouch. But I guess you've forgotten the Big-10 ACC challenge?

Sure. Not a bad little shop. I'll buy the odd bottle there.

The coffee is very, very good. Better than anything you get in NYC, natch.

Now, that is something I can use. I hope that you fill out a Material Transfer form with that.

Hey, this year's was almost a draw, the best result yet mustered by the oft-maligned Big 10. Not that I'm sticking up for them: they do have a knack for looking bad on a national stage. OSU alone can achieve that with its BCS woes. Of course, I equate athletic underachievement with academic excellence,* so I salute our pathetic football season and am heartened by our 0-2 start to the Big 10 basketball season.

Go, team!

* After all, I did my doctoral research during Columbia's record-setting 0-45 record in Div 1 football.

Yes, I am sure that if Abraco, Joe, and Everyman were to all somehow close, this might possibly be true.

I was always quite partial to 9th st espresso. I'm still trying to find a replacement for it here in Chicago.
