Friday night we had friends over for delicious beers (which I provided) and crappy wine (which they provided). But apparently that kind of behavior is criminally irresponsible. So yesterday we switched to family and my last bottle of 2012 Rebholz im Sonnenschein Ganz Horn Riesling GG.
The last few bottles I've opened of this were at group dinners. They always showed well but it was nice to get a final shot at watching it slowly develop over the evening. Actually, it was more than nice. Elegant, mineral, savory, focused and fragrant. No idea how long these can age, but no regrets about drinking this last bottle when the mellowed harmony has knitted things together but the dancing minerals are still very much alive.
Overall, a lovely restrained-yet-expressive take on riesling, which is what I like so much about Rehbolz.
