Rafa Sacked.Next time maybe he'll keep his trap shut. Dip shit.

I don't know why, but I have a soft spot for Benitez and don't think he ever stood a chance. I hoped he walked away with tons of $$.
No, you're prob right that he never stood a chance, though it seems pretty likely he wouldn't have been sent packing this soon had he not opened his mouth when and the way he did. I'm sure he'll be picked up fairly quickly. Whether or not he got compensated heavily by Inter, I dunno. I bet he got some decent coin, but there could've been some crazy clauses: 'fired before a certain time', 'not in first place', etc.

the rafa story made my week -- even more so because it's giving hodgeson the heebies (oh to be a scouser -- imagine living in a world where a rerun of rafa's last season is something to wax nostalgic about).

m'vila would be great (and it might be the time to go there, since it's not clear anyone at anfield is going to be trusted to spend much). otoh, the arse need a center-half. two even. if sakho ends up at man-ure after all the scouting we've done on him over the past couple of seasons, it will only increase my fear for the furniture at fatboy towers.

how does Neville not get a red in the first half, not to mention a penalty?

Neville's reputation for clean play must have been the the reason the red card stayed in the pocket for that particular transgression.

City were lucky to escape Emirates with a point, but not a pretty game to watch. Van Persie looks to be rounding back into form, no?

Did Man City have 13 players playing the back line tonight?

What is more painful -- watching your team fall back and concede that the only chance for a win is going to be some flukey offensive chance or having your team control play and never score? Does Dzeko know he is being hired to play fullback?

RvP actually playing several games in a row is a plus, if he says healthy. Which is like asking if every one of your Puzelat wines will all arrive intact and in perfect shape and be fucking brilliant. (fb -- what are the odds?)

It's classic mmqb'ing, but I would like to have seen Chamakh get some time in the game.

of course you wanted to see Chamakh - not because van persie didn't have a very good game, but because City were taking advantage, defensively, of playing against what was essentially 4-2-4-0

Good one, Sasha. If I'm Wenger, I'm having those posts reduced in size before the next outing.

Just sayin'

seriously, when did City defense have to turn their backs to the ball today?

I am wondering what Wenger's plan is for Bendtner.

Watched La Coruna-Barcelona replay. It's just a treat to watch Barca play. Beautiful goals from Messi and Iniesta. What's scary is watching their team speed on defense and how fast they close down on the ball.

I think the focus at the moment is to get a defender - Vermaelen is still having issues.

Yep, I know, and I guess the upside of the Squillaci hamstring issue is that Wenger now seems headed towards picking someone up. It would be nice to see them spring for a quality player rather than a low budget temp.

particularly if the quality player is not cup tied. Not that it's going to help, this year.

I'm going to take a small bit of pride in the Ipswich Town cup victory over Arsenal, who will thrash my beloved tractor boys in the return leg. After the plunge in the Championship table, the firing of Keane, and the thrashing at Chelsea, a victory feels pretty good. Even though I'd rather it have been any premiership team other than Arsenal (my second favorite team) it's the little things...

Cheers,

Kevin
