On behalf of myself, the restaurant, and the esteemed Orange Wine Gathering Specialists (OWGS), I would like to thank everyone who for their interest in the NYC Tide of Orange. I'm personally amazed at the response to a post I wrote while quite under the influence, very early one morning.
Unfortunately, it has gotten difficult to gather up all the bits of info from this thread, my now bloated inbox, and from phone messages.
Basically, we just want to see that we have a seat for you, and that we don't screw it up on the restaurant end. So I would ask that anyone who would like to reserve a seat for the ORANGE WINE Fantasy Camp at Convivio call the restaurant (212-599-5045) and speak with a reservationist, who will be happy to take your information and find out how many seats you would like, etc. I personally am finding it hard to keep track amidst my duties as a sommelier, faithful Disorder reader, and eater of oranges. Please help us by giving a call.
Here is the DECLARATION OF ORANGE (ie. the Deal):
We are going to open up a bunch of skin contact whites/orange wines/vini matti (see above for the list, with possible last minute additions from the OWGS) and serve them over a menu designed with those wines in mind. We encourage you to bring something along to also open and share. In the spirit of bring a can to the can drive, get reduced admission to the fair we have things arranged thus...
You come to the dinner with a bottle in hand to share with the assembled - we are going to charge $95/person with bottle, plus tax and grat.
You come to the dinner, but hey, sharing is not your thing, and thus no bottle - no problem, but that will be a $130/person charge, plus tax and gratuity.
Thus you are encouraged to buy, beg, borrow, seak out, steal from your neighbor's stash a bottle of ORANGE goodness to share with the SOCIETY of ORANGE.
No further requirement on what that wine be. Just that it is Orange and worth sharing. That is all we ask.
The NYC dinner will be Wednesday, July 29th, at Convivio (45 Tudor City Pl, NY, NY), which can be phoned for reservations at 212-599-5045.
PLEASE EXCUSE THIS SPAM.
Thank ye'.
