It's Summer, Show Me Some Skin!!!

Should be good. I have various things.

How many can you accommodate? How many wines can we try?

dang.

More's the better. I'm figuring on 24 or so guests (4 tables of six) because I think after that number the kind of pass around the bottle vibe that I would like to see here won't be possible. Also, it is unlikely that we could fill a room of 60 seats and not have to spend considerable time explaining the basics to several folks. Which I would rather not do. So 24 it is. With that number in mind, 2 bottles of things are good, magnums are good, because I'm sure everybody would be interested in trying what is opened. But where one bottle is what there is, then certainly that is welcome also.

There's no time limit on the evening. If it ends up taking another hour to go through 10 more bottles of wine for the party, so be it.

This is the menu for the evening, btw:

...passed Sfizi small bites
...Sgombro marinated yellowtail, olivada, almonds
...Dentice seared snapper, fava bean puree, cuttlefish, radishes, mint, almond salad
...Malloreddus sardinian saffron gnocchetti, crab, sea urchin
...Grigliata Mista pork belly and housemade pork sausage
...Formaggi chefs selection of cheese

The Clockwork of OrangeThe Orange Event of the Year is scheduled for Wednesday, July 29th, at 7:30pm in Tudor City.

Be there when the Orange Train rumbles through!

I'm provisionally in. Gotta make sure it works with work. Get a plane ticket, etc. But that is all doable.

In an entirely out of character moment, may I attend?

The Love of 3 Oranges happens to be one of my favorites....and I can think of 3 to bring....

On behalf of myself, the restaurant, and the esteemed Orange Wine Gathering Specialists (OWGS), I would like to thank everyone who for their interest in the NYC Tide of Orange. I'm personally amazed at the response to a post I wrote while quite under the influence, very early one morning.

Unfortunately, it has gotten difficult to gather up all the bits of info from this thread, my now bloated inbox, and from phone messages.

Basically, we just want to see that we have a seat for you, and that we don't screw it up on the restaurant end. So I would ask that anyone who would like to reserve a seat for the ORANGE WINE Fantasy Camp at Convivio call the restaurant (212-599-5045) and speak with a reservationist, who will be happy to take your information and find out how many seats you would like, etc. I personally am finding it hard to keep track amidst my duties as a sommelier, faithful Disorder reader, and eater of oranges. Please help us by giving a call.

Here is the DECLARATION OF ORANGE (ie. the Deal):
We are going to open up a bunch of skin contact whites/orange wines/vini matti (see above for the list, with possible last minute additions from the OWGS) and serve them over a menu designed with those wines in mind. We encourage you to bring something along to also open and share. In the spirit of bring a can to the can drive, get reduced admission to the fair we have things arranged thus...

You come to the dinner with a bottle in hand to share with the assembled - we are going to charge $95/person with bottle, plus tax and grat.

You come to the dinner, but hey, sharing is not your thing, and thus no bottle - no problem, but that will be a $130/person charge, plus tax and gratuity.

Thus you are encouraged to buy, beg, borrow, seak out, steal from your neighbor's stash a bottle of ORANGE goodness to share with the SOCIETY of ORANGE.

No further requirement on what that wine be. Just that it is Orange and worth sharing. That is all we ask.

The NYC dinner will be Wednesday, July 29th, at Convivio (45 Tudor City Pl, NY, NY), which can be phoned for reservations at 212-599-5045.

PLEASE EXCUSE THIS SPAM.

Thank ye'.

How's the 1997 Gravner Ribolla Gialla as an option?

I see it on the list at Wine Expo in LA and I'll be there on Sunday so I could drag one back.

I'll bring one of these.

When did Radikon switch his style? Is the 97 skin contact? Just curious since I know it was around 97.
