    A Cab Sauv from Rheinhessen!

2008 Koster-Wolf Albiger Schloss Hammerstein Cabernet Sauvignon Trocken. $25 Cdn, 13.5% alc, AP# 4251 072-4209. Good natural cork, decanted one hour. Medium ruby red, no sign of age. On the nose cassis, curranty but not all that forthcoming. Initial entry thought is quite dry, needs more...

    What did you drink tonight?

2007 La Sauvageonne Coteau du Languedoc Les Ruffes...3rd and last bottle. Very enjoyable, drinks nicely now.

    What did you drink tonight?

2010 Rust en Vrede Cabernet Sauvignon, Stellenbosch SA. Frequenting my fave winebar downtown, I was surprised to find this bottle had just been opened. This winery has always turned out some nice wines in my book and good prices too. Dark purple with a reddish purple rim. Floral, brambly nose...

    Typically perceptive and lucidly written

Good article, well thought out I`d say. BYOB up here in Alberta where I live is not enthusiastically welcomed by many restaurants.

    2002 German rieslings

I am with George in a way, stick to Kabinett and trockens but sometimes I waiver. Yesterday 2012 Joh. Haart Piesporter G Spat, grin.

    What did you drink tonight?

An interesting entry level Mosel Riesling from Andreas Bender, seemed to need an hour or so to show its stuff. Half bottle left for tonite.

    Nahe and Hexamer.

Here is a new arrival downtown and lucky to get a sample....2012 Hexamer Muddersheimer Altenberg Riesling Kabinett. One of my fave Nahe producers. Light yellow color some pear and mineral on the nose. Very tasty, ripe pear and the usual good lengthy finish. Not sure of the price but guess $26?

    New resource: Wine grape database

That is a decent list from Steve but I would like to see a mention for Lammershoek and Mullineux. Best Bob.

    New resource: Wine grape database

There continues to be some terrific CB coming out of S Africa... and the prices are pretty good. Have to admit a slow mover up here but some very nice choices.
